BCCI Chinese Magazine—Issue 2

https://bcci.ac.th/student-life/magazine/bcci-magazine-issue2/

We are excited to share that the second issue of the BCCI Chinese Magazine has now been published in digital format.

The BCCI Chinese Magazine is a student-led publication guided by the Chinese Department. It is planned, written, edited, and designed by BCCI students. Through this magazine, students have the opportunity to express their thoughts in Chinese, share their learning and creativity, and grow in leadership, teamwork, and service.

In the future, we also hope to print physical copies of the magazine so that students can read, keep, and share them. Interested parents may also request a printed copy for free, depending on availability.

As printing costs are relatively high, families who would like to support this student publication are welcome to make a voluntary contribution toward the printing cost. The donation QR code is provided below.

Your support will be a meaningful encouragement to our students as they use their gifts in writing, editing, design, and service to bless the school community.

BCCI Chinese Writing Competition

BCCI is pleased to announce the completion of this year’s Chinese Writing Competition, which encouraged students to respond to life, faith, and the world through Chinese literary writing.

After a review by the Chinese judging committee, the work Dampness by Bella in Grade 12 received the Outstanding Writing Award in recognition of its thoughtful reflection, literary expression, and originality.

As part of the recognition, the student writer will receive a Certificate of Writing Excellence and a writing award supported by the BCCI Chinese Magazine fund.

The award-winning work will also be published in the upcoming issue of BCCI Chinese Magazine under the “Youth Reflections” section as a special feature of the BCCI Chinese Writing Competition.

Congratulations to this student writer for this meaningful achievement, and thank you to all teachers who supported the judging and review process.

BCCI teachers recently reviewed school-wide MAP test scores in order to use this data to improve education at BCCI. We are in the never-ending pursuit to deliver excellence in education for your child/children.

Special Parent Announcement

The BCCI Parent Teacher Association sincerely invites more parents to join the School PTA.

We are looking for parents who

  • Are willing to work together with the school and to contribute to the growth and development of our children
  • Preferably have some English communication ability (to facilitate communication with Principal Mac)
  • Are from each grade group; currently, we especially need more parent representatives from Kindergarten, Lower Elementary (Grades 1–3), and High School (Grades 9–12).

Main responsibilities of the Parent Committee

  • Attend a monthly meeting with Principal Mac (usually on a Wednesday from 2:30–3:30 PM)
  • Represent BCCI parents by providing positive and constructive feedback, and offer suggestions
  • Help plan and support various school events and activities
  • Work together with the school to promote students’ learning and overall development

Interested parents are welcome to contact Principal Mac directly to sign up, or feel free to speak with any of current PTA members first for more information.

Principal Mac’s email: mac@bcciedu.org

High School Students & Parents: College Applications

Middle School Students & Parents also invited

Our Grade 12 students will be sharing their college application experiences with students and families on Thursday, May 28th at 3:00 PM in the 3rd Floor Big Room.

This will be a great opportunity for high school (and middle school) families to hear firsthand about the college application process, scholarships, applying to universities in different countries, and advice for students preparing for universities and colleges. Parents and students are welcome to attend.

Middle School Fun Night

We are excited to host our Middle School Fun Night on Thursday, 28th May from 16:30–20:30.

The evening will include games, dinner (pizza, KFC, and drinks), a movie, and will end with a fun hide-and-seek activity. Students are encouraged to bring snacks and drinks.

Students can wear comfortable clothing. Please note that no devices are allowed. Phones may only be brought for emergencies and must be handed to teachers on arrival.

Humility

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.  from the Bible, Philippians 2:3-4

Humility is our chapel theme this month. Humility takes courage and is also a blessing to others. At BCCI, we are training students to be humble leaders who bless the people around them.

Blessings,

Pastor Mac

Principal of BCCI

Art and Music Festival

Thank you to the many people who made this festival possible. But the biggest thank you goes to Teacher Parker, for the art, and Teacher Benj, for the music. Our Creator God created us to be creative. And creativity was on full display among BCCI students.

This is one example (and a major one) of how BCCI is contributing to students growing up as well-rounded, confident, and creative individuals. Put all the BCCI individuals together and what do you get?
BCCI FAMILY!

Blessings,
Pastor Mac
