Chapels

Character theme of the month: RESPONSIBILITY
This theme is introduced in chapel but applies to the whole school!

Chapel Theme verse:
Colossians 3:14-15a
And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.
  • So far this year, Grades 5,4,3, and 2 have helped lead chapel
  • Recently in middle school and high school, students discussed the Bible in small groups and the chapel band led us in singing.

Stay healthy!

  • Remember to practice a healthy lifestyle: eat well, sleep well, wash hands.
  • Rainy season sickness: influenza, malaria, dengue, Leptospirosis and conjunctivitis.
Blessings,
Pastor Mac

Acceptance: character theme from August

ECA/ACS/Sports!

Today: information about all the activities
Sunday evening: start of sign ups on Google Forms (you will receive a text with instructions about signing up).

Special Note: Last year all of these activities were free. Of course this was wonderful for families, but it was not good for the school finances. This year we will need to charge a fee. But please know that the fee is heavily discounted compared to the total cost to the school.

Class Schedules

You can now easily see what classes your child has each day and when the classes meet. Class schedules for NKP & MS will be posted on the website that is sent to you on Sunday evening. Scroll to the bottom of the webpage to see the schedule links.

Being On-Time to School

Thank you for getting your children to school on-time. This is very helpful for the teachers to begin their lessons.

Some parents are having trouble getting their children to school on-time. Please work harder to drop your child or children off earlier. Thank you.

MAP Testing—September 2024

 Dear Parents,

At BCCI, we believe in addressing the learning needs of the child. To achieve this, we do diagnostic testing of the students to determine the best strategies to grow the child.  One of these tests is the NWEA MAP Growth Assessment. Our students participate in the NWEA MAP assessment for Reading, Language and Mathematics from Grade 2 to 12. MAP, or the Measure of Academic Progress test, is a computer-adaptive skills assessment that provides parents, teachers, and administrators with metrics to measure a student’s academic growth and progress in Reading, Language Usage, and Mathematics throughout their time in school. The assessment is administered twice throughout the school year, one in Semester 1 and one in Semester 2, allowing teachers to track individual student progress and identify areas where additional support or enrichment may be needed.

The first test for students from Grade 2 through Grade 12 is scheduled for September 2024. It is essential to realize that this test is not an examination or subject test. It is diagnostic, and the score achieved reflects their current level of ability in English or Mathematics relative to the average for the age group. This test score has no impact on their GPA or other grades. The purpose of the score is twofold: firstly, to provide a comparison for the next time we do the test so we can see their progress. Secondly, the test results identify specific areas of weakness to enable the teachers to give targeted support to address areas the student needs to develop.

The teachers will discuss the test results with you during the following parent-teacher conferences to help you understand ways you might help your child improve in the identified areas. Here is some useful information about the MAP assessment for parents:

If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact me via email at d.huang@bcciedu.org or the school office.

Yours Faithfully,

Dinglei Huang (Ding Ding), Ph.D.

From the Principal

This year teachers are not only being challenged to provide an excellent education, but also an excellent BCCI education. And that means our staff take seriously the school mission statement. We ask questions: how can the statement lead us to improve our lesson plans? How does the BCCI mission statement bless our students?
