Parent LINE Group

Research consistently shows that parental involvement in children's education positively impacts both academic performance and social-emotional development. By fostering a strong partnership between BCCI and parents, we aim to promote inclusivity, diversity, and mutual respect, ensuring that the diverse needs of our students are supported throughout their academic journey.

With this in mind, the Parent Committee for this academic year has been formed with the mission to strengthen and support BCCI for the benefit of all students. The committee will provide regular updates via the LINE group Parent Committee-BCCI, and we encourage all parents to actively participate and engage with us.

Theme for October: Self-Control

This month we will focus on the character quality of self-control. Self-control is necessary for our students to grow up into successful adults. There are many areas of life to practice this trait. In an artistic way, students will be challenged to reflect on self-control with the screen (TV, computer, phone, tablet).

Here are some best practices for device use in the home:

  1. Parental restrictions on personal devices and the home wifi network.
  2. Children use the internet in open places in the home.
  3. No devices/screen in the bedroom overnight.

School Smart Watch Policy

  • Smart watches are not to be used for photos or video while students are at school.
  • Students may not use their watch to call parents or others during school hours (8:00am to 3:30pm).
  • If students need to contact home, they need to talk to their teacher first.
  • If students use the watch not according to this policy, then teachers will take the watch until the end of the school day. Repeat offenses may require a meeting at school with the parents.

Flag Football Practice Changes

K3 to G3 Flag Football practice will be on Monday only. There will be no Wednesday practice. This is due to the lack of coaches and because other grade levels only have one practice a week.

October School Calendar

  • 14 October—no school (The Great Memorial Day, substitution)
  • 16 October—Quarter 1 ends
  • 19-27 October—no school: Fall Break
