Friday, 26 September: Come to School!

A school day! Previously this day was scheduled for a teacher professional development day and no school. However, due to our missing school days because of flooding, 26th September is now a regular school day.

Parent Committee

The BCCI Parent Committee had their first meeting of the year this past Wednesday. We are looking for more parents, representing all grade levels. A thriving school is a school that operates with a close partnership with parents. This committee will promote BCCI, will increase communication between parents and the school, and will coordinate parent involvement at BCCI events.

Proof of BCCI Enrollment

If you need a certificate to prove your child’s enrollment at BCCI as a student, please fill out this form: LINK

BCCI Swimming Pool

If you are interested in the swimming pool maintenance, please click the link below. Our swimming pool is inspected and cleaned three times a week!

BCCI Students as Future Leaders

We want to train our students to be future leaders in our world. They can make a difference! How? By not only receiving a high quality education but also being trained in BCCI’s vision statement.

BCCI develops students who will

Live with a sense of mission,

Reflect God’s character

Work with excellence

Bless our neighbors through service

As our students grow in the BCCI vision of MCES, they will become strong adults who make this world a better place.

From the Bible:

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.   —1 Corinthians 15:58

Blessings,

Pastor Mac

 New BCCI Promo Video!

BCCI Counseling

Teacher Nettie is our part-time school counselor. She has introduced herself to students. Here are a few points for parents to be aware of:

  • Short-term individual counseling for emotional or social concerns
  • Group counseling on shared issues such as anxiety, grief, or peer relationships
  • Crisis intervention and risk assessment (e.g., suicide, self-harm)
  • Referrals to community mental health providers when long-term or specialized care is needed
  • Consultation and collaboration with teachers, administrators, and families

Classroom Culture

Here is an update on one area our teachers are working on. Educational research shows that improving classroom culture improves education. As students build good relationship and feel good at school, they are able to learn better.  So this year teachers have received training for and are working hard on improving classroom culture. This week teachers are observing one another and giving feedback to each other regarding classroom culture activities.

Upcoming for Kindergarten:

Responsibility

This month our character theme is Responsibility. Here is a Bible verse that was shared in kindergarten—primary chapel:

God’s gifts of grace come in many forms. Each of you has received a gift in order to serve others. You should use it faithfully.  1 Peter 4:10

Blessings,

Pastor Mac

MS & HS Parents

All middle school and high school students have access to Membean. This program is a proven way to improve English vocabulary, one of the greatest needs of our students.

Your child should use Membean at minimum 3 days a week for 15 minutes each time (or maybe your child will want to do more!)

Upcoming

  • Kindergarten Book Character Day: 19 September
  • Teacher Professional Development Day and no school: 26 September
  • First fire drill of the year: 2 October (the fire department will join us for fire safety education)

Action Plan: BCCI Improving Education

One research based educational initiative to improve student learning is for teachers to give attention to “classroom culture”. How do the students feel and behave in the classroom? Are the expectations for the classroom communicated clearly? A positive classroom culture improves education. BCCI teachers have been working hard this school year to set an excellent, stable classroom environment, creating the best setting for students to learn.

We are all working hard to educate and bless your child!

BCCI MISSION STATEMENT
A God-centered learning community
Intent on restoring God’s world

MAP TESTING Beginning

Starting next week through the end of September, students in Grades 2–12 will take the NWEA MAP Growth assessments in Reading, Language, and Math. BCCI administers MAP twice a year—September and May—to track student growth and guide teacher instruction.

  • MAP is not an achievement test
  • The September test is diagnostic: shows where students are starting
  • A small increase—or even a dip—in scores compared to MAP scores earlier this year is normal after summer break
  • What matters most is the growth students make during the school year.

High School Only Announcement

To parents and guardians for high school students: starting Monday, no personal devices (computers/iPads) are to be brought to school. Each day the student is expected to come to school with their school iPad (fully charged).

Alma Attendance

Alma is new for all of us. Please be patient with the attendance feature. Attendance will be taken at the start of the day. Teachers are still trying to figure out their routine and taking attendance for each class they teach. Sometimes teachers take attendance after the class. So parents do not need to be concerned if they see a class with missing attendance.

BCCI Vision

To develop students who will…

Live with a sense of Mission

Reflect God’s Character

Work with Excellence

And bless our neighbors through Service

BCCI continues to have a great start to the school year!
